Opendoor is a community resource sharing application designed with the ultimate the goal of creating sustainable local communities through the exchange of goods and services.
It was designed for the Microsoft Design Expo 2010 under the theme, Social Meets Service. It aims to simultaneously solve the problems of waste and social isolation through a social network that uses GPS tracking to provide opportunity match making, emphasizing accessibility over ownership of products.
The model is based around the four step process of a user identifying his or her needs, sharing goods & services, building personal relationships, and ultimately building a community network.
